The Aptucxet Trading Post Project

The presumed site of the Aptucxet Trading Post was identified way back in the 1850s and the house location was fully excavated in the 1920s. It wasn’t until the 1990s that anyone seriously questioned whether this really was the house built in 1627 by Plymouth Colony for trade. It wasn’t and this report documents the history of the excavations and posits an alternate location for the trading house.
