Old Court House, Barnstable

title picThe Old Court House, maintained by tales of Cape Cod, was another crawl through and under project that David Wheelock and I did. The original structure was built in the 18th century and then totally rehabbed in the 19th. We found that the roof has been replaced, additions have been made on the south side, and the interior had been gutted. What was left of the original court house were the four main walls, possibly some joists, 18th century painted paneling reused as wall patches, and lots of clues as to the building’s original details.
