Westerwald stoneware was made in Germany and imported into New England in the 17th and 18th century. The fragments from the Taylor homesite could date as early as the middle 17th century, but based on styles and execution, probably date to the late 17th to middle 18th century. They were not imported after the start of the Revolution.
