Pearlware and Creamware

These ceramic types date from the last portion of the occupation to the early post occupation period. Creamware was the first refined earthenware that challenged porcelain for the upscale tablewares market after ca. 1760 to about 1780 or so. Pearlware was the even whiter successor to creamware. The pearlware is decorated with a blue transferprint, probably placing it in the early post occupation period. It may have arrived on site as field refuse from the newly built Samuel Taylor house tot he north. The creamware is decorated in black and red hand painting and probably dates to before the house was taken down.
